Batiste Dry Shampoo

I've never given 'dry shampoo' a go, so I was really excited when I got one to be able to try it out.

Going through high school my mum used to have this trick where she would chuck a bit of powder onto our hair if we had been to lazy to wash our hair the night before or didn't have enough time that morning to shower. The powder would soak up the oil in our hair and we would no longer have an excuse to complain and moan about how our hair just would not style because it was just too oily to manage that morning.

Even though it worked, that trick also had it's downside - we had nice non-oily, manageable hair but we also had an unattractive white coating of powder that we just couldn't get rid of...

So now those powder days are over and we introduce Dry Shampoo.

Dry shampoo is a waterless formulation which absorbs dirt, oils and other products that are found on the hair between washes.

I really love the Batiste Dry Shampoo. I was always a little worried about ho a dry shampoo would smell, but this product destroyed all those worries.

I have the product in 'Fresh', which is exactly how I would describe the scent. It smells clean but smells really pretty at the same time - it's 'proper' scent description is a fruity twist of Pear and Citrus accents with lively florals and a base of woody Musk and Sandalwood. Yummy!

I applied this onto my hair whilst going through the 'in between' stages of washing. It's really easy to use - just spray lightly onto the whole hair area and massage though with your fingers. Leave it to settle for a little bit and then give it a brush.

My hair felt like it had been freshly washed!

I also have a little travel sized one that I keep in my handbag for when I need it. I've used it after the gym a couple of times, which I found to be really handy!

If you're interested, the smaller one is in 'Diva' which is a radiant blend of florals; cyclamen, violet, lily and Jasmine - combined with sweet vanilla and soft musk. And yes, it does smell as good as that sounds!

I find the 'fresh' scent to be quite unisex - so it's perfect to spray onto your partners wild, unruly, greasy hair while he's not looking. Problem fixed!

Batiste have a massive range of Dry Shampoo products in all kinds of pretty scents. For example:

Boho: Lemon, orange and passion fruit with spiced jasmine, lily and heliotrope.
Blush: Red hibiscus, orange, freesia, green leaf, tuberose, peony, lily, spice musk, vetiver and Amber Wood.

And they all have gorgeous, fun packaging.

You can get these from Big W, Coles, Chemist Warehouse, David Jones, My Chemist, Priceline, Target, Terry White Chemist and Woolworths. Check out the website at www.batistehair.co.uk

If you haven't given dry shampoo a go, I highly recommended it.

Even though dry shampoo is an amazing product for in between washes or whenever you need that 'just washed' look and feeling, it shouldn't be used as a substitute for actually washing your hair. Washing your hair with a good shampoo and conditioner is important.

Product of the day!

I am so excited to have this product in my hand!

24 hour wear cream gel liner made to enhance the color of your eyes.

So this one is for my blue eyes. It comes in a pack of three and contains three different colors: blue, brown and black.

The colors have a hint of blue shimmer throughout them, which is so pretty.

Above you can see the slight blue shimmer coming through the different colors.
(Apologies for the out of focus swatches!)

The formula is nice and creamy and glides on really easily, to create whatever kind of line you're aiming for. Personally I wear a crisp thin line, winged out at the side and this liner was perfect for me to get that look.

The three colors allow you to play up your look (the blue), go for a more natural shade (the brown) or have that pretty dramatic black color.

I wore these out on the weekend using the black on my top lash line and the brown on my lower lash line and was really happy with the results.

The liner stayed put the whole night and I didn't find the need to reapply.

The pots easily snap apart for your convenience (easy for sticking a certain color in your handbag for on-the-go touch ups) and are easily restacked for stylish storing (I prefer to keep mine stacked or they will become lost in my ever-growing drawers of products!).

The liner is a 24 hour formula - water resistant and smudge proof.

Hooray!

Physicians Formula products are stocked in Kmart, Priceline and Terry White Chemists, or you can check it out online at http://www.physiciansformula.com/

So... For Me eau de toilette

For the bohemian princess. She loves her quirky, sassy style and indulges in all things hippy.

This funky scent is part of the new Rock N Roll collection that the brand So...? has released.

There are four different scents for 4 different rock star personalities!

Fab, For Me, In Love and Darling.

The one I have here is 'For Me' and I love the packaging design. It's so modern, funky and fun.

The website describes the scent as lyrical like a song. Draw those near with the melodic and gentle scent of Orange Flower, Tuberose, Ylang Ylang and Patchouli.

It sounds as delicious as it smells! It has a really nice fresh, fruity, orange scent that reminds me of summer. It's so pretty, and lasts quite awhile on the skin.

Please note: When you first get this the lid can be a bit fiddly to get back on so make sure you take care whilst doing it. If you don' get the bottle lined up with the inside of the lid, it can press down and you'll end up spraying the fragrance into the lid and you won't be able to fully close it up.

I've seen the So...? fragrances available at Big W, Priceline and Target in Australia.

Make Water Better!

You're probably wondering what on earth this little gadget is, right?

Well let me introduce the Water Bobble!

The 'bobble' is an eco-friendly water bottle that filters your water as your drink! (that crazy looking pink bit inside the bottle is the handy-dandy filter)

I came across this gorgeous little bottle in Officeworks and fell in love with it's quirky look and it's filtering handywork!

I am always spending money on buying water bottles, because I carry one with my everywhere! (if only I had a photo of the 50 million empty water bottles I found floating around on the floor in the backseat of my car...).

Now I'll save money because I have this lovely looking bottle to keep and carry with me, and I won't have to go buying other bottles. Plus, I'll always have fresh filtered tasting water on the go!

It's so simple! Amazing!

Product of the day

Today's product of the day is Billie Goat Soap!

Billie Goat Soap is an all natural brand that creates body products specially for sensitive skin, using goats milk.

Goats milk contains goodies such as proteins, amino acids and vitamins which will help nourish and moisturise your skin. It also has lactic acid which helps to do things such as exfoliate, cleanse and soften skin as you use it. Each bar is has a PH level close to that of your own skin, which makes it perfect if you have sensitive skin.

To read more about the story of Billie Goat Soap click here.

I loved using this soap!

As I've mentioned before I suffer from things such as razor bumps, rash, redness and ingrown hairs whilst shaving. I also tend to get very dry skin from certain soaps.

But this soap was lovely to use. It didn't irritate my skin when used before and after shaving, and I even noticed a reduction in razor bumps and didn't have a rash. Score!

The soap itself felt nice and creamy at a first touch, before I'd even put it into the water. It lathered up into a nice creamy foam when wet and left my skin feeling moisturised afterwards.

It has a light scent that smells clean and.. milky!

I'm a big fan of milk products, and this is one that I just love and highly recommended you give a go.

There is a massive list of places that stock this soap and other products. I was surprised and excited to find out there were two places in my home town that stock it! Hooray!

Mirenesse Velvet Lip Lift Moisture Shine Lip Plumper

A three in one lip loving, anti aging gloss for really full plump lips 24 hours a day. Designed to instantly correct the apperance of dry, thin lips. Helps promote younger looking and perfectly plump lips without having to resort to invasive procedures.

I love the color of this lip plumper. The shade I have is a gorgeous apricot color (the number on the back says no.15, so this may be the shade. Correct me if I'm wrong!) and comes out a nice nudish apricot color when applied.

I personally didn't notice much plumpness going on when I applied this, as my lips are naturally full already. But that hasn't stopped me from wearing this! It has a really nice formula which isn't sticky and doesn't come off on things like drinking glasses.

The color lasts for quite awhile and I just love the shimmery tone to it.

It feels really moisturising and light on the lips, and looks great either on it's own or over another shade (if you're wearing it just for the color like I have been)

The lip plumber contains a special hybrid gel which gives it the 24 hour intensive moisture and an instant 'plump' look. When used, mirco collagen lip filling spheres draw in moisture to fill lines and keeps lips full and soft.

Nyx Lip smacking fun colors

I've never really been a big lipstick fan, because I could never find the right color or I was scared of using a lippy and it looking totally wrong for me.

But lately I've been finding a few nice subtle shades of lipstick that are perfect for me.

I picked up this gorgeous shade on Tanty Cosmetics for $5.95 (and free shipping Australia wide!)

Harmonica is a gorgeous light baby pink shade of lipstick with a slight shimmery tone.

See the swatch on my hand below

As you can see (if you can see it) the color is very, very light but gives a really nice pink/silvery shimmer that looks gorgeous on lips.

There is a real mixed reaction with this shade on throughout the beauty community. Some can find it a little too frosted and the silvery pink tones may not appeal to everyone. I personally love the frosted lip look, so I did fall in love with this one.

The formula is nice and creamy, goes on easily and wears for quite awhile. It didn't dry my lips out at all (and I have fairly dry lips, especially through the winter)

I look forward to trying out some more colors.

Do you wear NYX lipsticks? What shade do you love?

Summer Tan

Knowing how often I am looking for a good self-tanner, my friend bought me this for Christmas last year and I haven't looked at another since.

She bought it from her beauty salon, but you can also buy it online (i'll pop the website down below)

This tanner is seriously amazing. It's green based which means there is a really, really high chance it's not going to go orange. And it never has!

When first applied it comes out a really rich dark chocolate that kind of makes you panic and go 'oh no, what have I just done?' but once you start blending it into your skin it leaves a nice brownish sheen so you can lightly see where you are applying it.

After about three hours you can apply another coat if you wish.

Once the application time has been and gone and you wash it off, it leaves the most amazing natural bronze color i've ever had from a fake tanner.

I'm always worried about the smell of fake tanners, but this one has the most amazing smell. It reminds me of baby powder or lotion.

If you are looking for an amazing self tanner, but havent been able to find one yet - I recommend this one.

The price is about $20 for the tan on it's own, but I would recommend getting the exfoliater (you've got to smell this one! It's so amazing and does a fantastic job at getting rid of those rough patches before you even think about getting a tan done...) and/or the face tanner.

HAPPY TANNING!

How gorgeous is Maybelline's new Fit Me range! I love the sleek new packaging so much.

I picked this little treat up at my local Priceline store for $18. I hadn't seen the new range before, but I had heard about it.

I tested it out in the store and I was immediately impressed.

The good thing about this new range is that it's simple to work out which products go along side each other.

For example, I picked up the foundation in the shade 125. Next time I'm looking for a new product, maybe a blush, I can just look for the other products that also display the number 125.

The foundation range has 18 different shades, which gives you a good chance of getting the right shade to suit your skin.

The formula is light-weight and creamy and gives a natural coverage without any 'caked-on' look. Plus it contains SPF 15, which is a nice little added bonus.

I really like this foundation. It blends in really well with my skin tone, and doesn't just sit on top like some other foundations do when applied to my skin.

It doesn't have any foundation smell to it when applied, which I really like. There is nothing worse than putting on a strong smelling foundation.

It feels lightweight when applied but it still gives a really nice full coverage, which it what I love in a foundation. I love being able to cover up the imperfections, but not actually being able to feel the makeup on your skin.

I have read a few reviews about this foundation being a little bit matte on skin that tends to be dry.
My skin is quite okay at the moment in terms of hydration but sometimes I also tend to mix in a little moisturiser with my foundations anyway just to give it a little extra hydration and glow.

If you find that your dry skin isn't taking the foundation too well, try adding in a little of your favorite moisturiser. Or even a dab of highlighter/illuminser. It won't only make it a little easier to apply, you'll get a nice glow included.
